LEBANON, Maine — A Lebanon man escaped injury early Thursday when his wife pulled him from his burning vehicle.
Lebanon Assistant Fire Chief Jason Cole said rescue personnel were dispatched to a Tobacco Road home at 4:30 a.m. for a reported vehicle fire.
Crews were notified en route that the man, whose name was not disclosed, had been pulled from one of the vehicles and the fire had spread to his home.
When firefighters arrived, they discovered two vehicles ablaze but not the house, according to Cole.
The victim told firefighters he had been sleeping in his 2002 Chevy Blazer when his wife pulled him from the burning vehicle. He was evaluated for smoke inhalation at the scene but refused a trip to the hospital, Cole said.
Lebanon and Rochester, N.H., crews managed to extinguish the vehicle fires quickly, Cole said. Neither vehicle was in operation at the time of the fire.
The state fire marshal’s office has been called in to investigate, Cole said.
