HOWLAND – George D. Harper Sr., 73, husband of Judith (Bubar) Harper, passed away Feb. 13, 2013, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1939, in Howland, the son of Cecilia (Edgecomb) and Linwood Robert Earl Harper.
George was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing, and working on cars, but most of all enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Judith, he is survived by five children, Bonnie Morin and husband, Gary, Anita Harper, George Harper Jr. and wife, Melissa, Lynn Gary and husband, Lawrence, and Tommy DeWitt; 11 grandchildren, Dylan Morin, Ashley Speed and husband, Gene, Darrell Carlow Jr., Andrea Carlow, Isaiah Gary, Ethan Gary, Britny Worster and husband, Tom, Victoria Harper, Jade Harper, Rylie Harper and Emily Harper; six great-grandchildren; five siblings and their families, Albert Harper Sr., Laurence Harper Sr., Elizabeth Ireland, Kenneth Harper Sr. and Joan Pelkey; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Mykle Harper; and two brothers, Harold Harper Sr. and Donald Harper Sr.
Friends may call 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Howland Cemetery at a later date.
