LAGRANGE – Hilda A. Turtlott, 98, wife of the late Carl H. Turtlott, passed away Feb. 5, 2013, with her family by her side at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Sept. 14, 1914, in Brownville Junction, the daughter of John and Esther (Catchpole) Priestman.
After graduating from high school, Hilda attended business school at her high school. During that time she met Carl and later married. Her passion was her family. She especially enjoyed being the No. 1 fan of her son’s softball team, which she and her husband followed around the state. She also enjoyed and was dedicated to supporting her granddaughter, Lori, and was sure to attend all of her Special Olympic events. Lori’s visit always brought smiles to Hilda. Her entire family will miss her devotion, support and unconditional love which she always gave them.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Turtlott and his wife, Betty; six grandchildren, Lisa Carter and her husband, Scott, Lori Turtlott, Lyle Turtlott and his wife, Lori, Bonnie Briganti and her husband, John, Robbie Turtlott and his wife, Jennifer, and Shelly Wolfcal and her husband, Jim; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Lauris Turtlott; two brothers, Harden and John Priestman; and three sisters, Mabel McLaughlin, Elsie Washburn and Annie Chase.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Community Baptist Church, LaGrange, with the Rev. Jonathan Ray officiating. After the service a reception will be held in the Town Hall Apartments Community Room. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, LaGrange, in the spring.
