BRUNSWICK, Maine — Brunswick police arrested the assistant coach of the Bowdoin College women’s ice hockey team, alleging she was drunk when she struck the side of a college building late Sunday.
Brunswick police responded to report of a motor vehicle driving into a building Sunday at 10:41 p.m. They arrested Holly Lorms, 24, of Brunswick and charged her with operating under the influence.
Brunswick Deputy Police Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department said Lorms was driving a 1999 Lexus SUV north on Sills Drive when she left the roadway, struck a utility pole then struck the Druckenmiller Science Building, on Polar Loop.
Air bags deployed during the crash, Hagan said, but no one was injured. A brick wall sustained damage.
According to the Bowdoin College website, Lorms was named assistant coach of women’s ice hockey in summer 2012.
Scott Hood, vice president for communications and public affairs for the college, declined comment Monday morning.
