CASTINE – Jessie Charne Milberg Richard, 64, passed away Feb. 2, 2013, of pancreatic cancer, at her home.
She was predeceased by her father, Paul Milberg of Wanamassa, N.J.; and her husband of 21 years, Jacques Richard of Castine. She is survived by her mother, Beatrice Milberg of Oakhurst, N.J.; her brother, Barry Milberg and his wife, Karen, of Philadelphia; her sister, Sherry Cohen and her husband, Neil, of New York City; and her niece, Beckie Cohen of New York City.
After graduating from Asbury Park High School in 1966, Jessie continued her education at Drexel Institute of Technology – now Drexel University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics, and Michigan State University, earning a Master of Arts degree in educational administration. Her hobbies included photography, hiking, gardening and singing. She was president of the Castine Garden Club from 2010 to 2012, and especially enjoyed singing in the Cas-tinettes at the summer Galas in Castine. She was most proud to have contributed to charities as a member of Castine Woman’s Club, as treasurer of Friends of the Witherle Library from 2008 to 2011, and, most rewarding and eye-opening, as a volunteer for a Bangor soup kitchen. A highlight of her pre-teen years was being the first solo Bat Mitzvah at Temple Beth Torah of Wanamassa, N.J., where Rabbi Bernard Spielman mentored her.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Congregation Beth El, 183 French St., Bangor. In lieu of flowers or food, please make donations of service, products or contributions to your local food bank or homeless shelter. A service of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.

a consciousness of miracles by appreciating all of
