Dawn Marie (Taite) Jordan

BREWER – Dawn Marie (Taite) Jordan, 65, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Feb. 1, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. During her long courageous battle with cancer, Dawn never lost her cheerful smile or her ability to enjoy life with each and every person she knew or met. Dawn was born Aug. 13, 1947, in Bangor, the daughter of Raymond and Teresa (McGinn) Taite.
She graduated from Orono High School in 1965. She married Kenneth Jordan in 1974 and together they enjoyed 38 years of marriage and the happiness of five wonderful children. She enjoyed the close friendships of her many fellow members of Calvary Baptist Church, Brewer, where she had been a member since 1974. Dawn retired from her job as “lunch lady” at Capri Street School, Brewer, in 2011. She enjoyed the company of each and every child, teacher or school employee for many years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife, enjoying each holiday and family occasion to the fullest. She was a very giving person and was happiest when she was able to pass along a thoughtful gift to a family member or friend.
Dawn is survived by her husband, Ken; father, Raymond H. Taite of Rochester, N.H.; daughter, Melissa and her husband, David Engelsberg, and their children, Ryan and Megan, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; son, Matthew of Brewer and his son, Spencer, and daughter, Riley; son, Michael of Brewer; son, Daniel and his fiancée, Ashley, and their son, Garrett, of Westfield, Mass.; son, Scott and his wife, Sarah, and Braiden of Dexter; sister, Kathy; and brother, Raymond, both of Rochester, N.H.; as well as many special friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Teresa Taite, in 1991.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Calvary Baptist Church, 61 State St., Brewer, with Pastor Roger Davis officiating. Refreshments and visitation time will be downstairs in the church after the service.
