BANGOR, Maine — A local woman accused of assaulting a man over the breakup of their relationship wound up going to jail Friday morning, police said.

Dawnna Vanchieri, 22, is facing a Class D misdemeanor charge of domestic violence assault, according to Bangor police Lt. Steve Hunt. Vanchieri was upset over a breakup with her boyfriend, Hunt said.

Police were dispatched to the Cedar Falls Trailer Park on Finson Road around 7 a.m. Friday when it was reported the woman was destroying the trailer, according to Hunt.

When police arrived, the man had scrapes and scratches on his face, Hunt said, and Vanchieri was taken into custody and brought to Penobscot County Jail. She was later released on bail.
