Coach Tim Whitehead’s keys to the weekend: “We will need to have good puck management. We’ve got to continue to defend well. We’ve got to get more second shots than our opponents and have a better plus-minus at the netfront.”

Game notes: Maine will be without freshman defenseman Ben Hutton (upper-body injury) and senior defenseman Nick Pryor (concussion) but junior defenseman Brice O’Connor (concussion) could play on Sunday. Providence is without junior defenseman Kevin Hart of Cumberland (lower-body injury) and LW Stefan Demopoulos (broken finger). Maine is 5-0-1 in the last six games against Providence at Alfond Arena but just 2-4 in the last six vs. UMass Lowell. UML is 10-0-1 in its last 11 games going into Friday’s game at Merrimack.
