ROCKLAND, Maine — Bail was set at $500 Wednesday afternoon for a 48-year-old Somerville man accused of stealing more than $10,000 in metals last month.

Scott L. Schultz was arrested this week and charged with burglary and theft. He made his initial court appearance Wednesday in Rockland District Court.

Schultz is accused of taking part in the theft of machine parts from a storage unit belonging to Thomas Lie-Nielsen of Lie-Nielsen Toolworks in Warren, according to papers filed in court.

Schultz was a passenger in a car driven by Daniel Boyce, 38, of Warren stopped by police in December. Boyce was arrested and charged with burglary and theft in connection with the theft of metals from a home in Warren.

Police said that further investigation led them to discover the theft from Lie-Nielsen Toolworks and eventually to arrest Schultz.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation.

Schultz remained at the Knox County Jail on Wednesday evening.
