RANGELEY, Maine — Three people are facing charges after a large quantity of heroin and money were found at the conclusion of an investigation in western Maine, police said.
Tyler McFarland, 31, of Gray; Jami Driscoll, 23, of Auburn; and Michael Chandler, 33, of Philadelphia are all facing a charge of trafficking in heroin, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Tuesday.
The trio were arrested Monday, McCausland said. Drug agents had been investigating a large crack and heroin distribution ring operating out of Rangeley for several months, he said.
Information was gathered last weekend that Chandler was delivering a new shipment of cocaine from Philadelphia, and agents armed with a search warrant searched a Main Street home and a motel Monday morning.
The search turned up 157 packs of heroin, 20 grams of crack and $8,200 cash, McCausland said.
McFarland has a lengthy rap sheet, according to McCausland. He was convicted of robbery, burglary and elevated aggravated assault in 2007 and had been in jail until he was recently released on probation.
All three suspects are being held at the Franklin County Jail and are due in court Wednesday.
