Washburn girls basketball team reaches 100-point mark in victory over SAHS

DYER BROOK — The Washburn Beavers scored 61 first-half points and finished with 100, a mark rarely reached in high school girls basketball, en route to a 100-36 victory over the Southern Aroostook Warriors Monday night.

Mackenzie Worcester paced the winners with 24 points and Carmen Bragg added 20. Joan Overman chipped in with 15, Nicole Olson had 12 and Carsyn Koch netted 11. Other scorers were Laina Mette 6, Olivia Doody 4, Emila Churchill 4, Natalie Doody 2, Grace Braley 2.

Jess Tucker scored 10 points to lead the Warriors and Sable Altvater put in eight. Other scorers were Dez Dubois 5, Kristen Tarr 5, Mataya Hartin 4, Ria Kinney 2, Beth Bishop 2.

Washburn, the defending state Class D champion, improved its record to 14-0 while the Warriors slipped to 12-3.
