HALLOWELL, Maine — A Sidney man could be facing charges after a single-vehicle accident in Hallowell early Sunday morning, police said.

Jeffrey Tompkins, 41, was heading north on Route 21 when his 1991 Saab veered off the road, hit a snowbank and struck a utility pole head-on, Hallowell police Chief Eric Nason said Monday.

Nason said Tompkins was not traveling at a high rate of speed. Pending toxicology tests will determine whether Tompkins will face charges.

Tompkins suffered head injuries and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for treatment. printed on August 20, 2017
