CLIFTON – James E. Garrity Sr., husband of the late Blanche A. (Martin) Garrity, 78, died Jan. 18, 2013, at a Bangor health care center. He was born Nov. 13, 1934, in Fall River, Mass., the son of James A. and Lillian (York) Garrity.
Jim grew up in Massachusetts and worked in the auto body trade for several years. He taught the auto body trade for 14 years in Massachusetts and for one year in Maine. Jim was a member of Holden Congregational Church for many years and had been residing at the Woodlands, Brewer, for the past year and a half.
He is survived by six children, James E. Garrity of Brewer, Susan Sarosiek of Stratham, N.H., David Garrity of Indiana, Brian Garrity of Henderson, Nev., Linda Bamford and her husband, Mike, of Clifton and Thomas Graban and his wife, Deborah, of Bangor; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Will Mckenney and wife, Marit, of Oltedal, Norway, and their children, Mia and Nemi, Kelly Ginn and fiancé, Frank, of Clifton and their son, Owen, Karen Sarosiek of Stratham, N.H., Jennifer, Rebecca and Jonathan Graban of Bangor, Jennifer of Massachusetts and her children, Hailey, Jayden and Liam, and Lynda and family of New Jersey. He was predeceased by his wife; a son, William; and a special son-in-law, Julius Sarosiek.
Family and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A memorial service honoring Jim’s life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Holden Congregational Church, Church Road, Holden, with the Rev. Leslie Anne Chatfield, interim pastor, presiding.
