Meriel H. Sargent

BREWER – Meriel H. Sargent, 95, wife of Frank D. Sargent, died Jan. 18, 2013, at the Maine Veterans Home. She was born June 25, 1917, in Oakland, the daughter of Bernard A. and Edna B. (Wentworth) Haskell.
Meriel was a faithful Red Sox fan, attending many games throughout the years. She attended North Brewer-Eddington United Methodist Church. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Millwee Chapter No. 198 and Penobscot County Extension Service Club.
Surviving are her daughter, Bonnie J. Whitney and her husband, Kenneth, of Brewer; two grandchildren, Lori Thompson, and Scott Thompson and his wife, Cindy, of Florida; three great-grandchildren, Kasey Hewey of Brewer, Ryan and Taylor Thompson of Florida; one sister, Bertha Ellis of Jacksonville, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Francis Rowe of Bangor; and a brother, Carl Haskell of Chester, Vt.
Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maine Veterans Home, Unit B Activities, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
