HAMPDEN – Florence Estella (Lamphier) Cobb, 94, passed away Jan. 17, 2013, at Westgate Manor. She was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Hampden, the daughter of Daniel and Minnie Belle (Partridge) Lamphier.
Florence will be remembered as a hardworking woman, and a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always looked forward to getting warm socks, sweaters, hats and mittens knitted for them by Grammie. From the beginning of Florence’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis she always sang “Have you ever seen a bicycle built for two, the little dog laughed to see such a sight and the dish ran away with a spoon.”
She is survived by her three daughters, Evelyn and husband, Paul, Connie and husband, Roy, and Irene, all of Maine; two sons, Richard and wife, Jeannie, of Tennessee and Warren Jr. and wife, Judy, of Texas; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren Sr. Florence’s family thanks everyone at Westgate Manor for the love, caring, ice cream and support you gave Grammie and her family.
A graveside service will be held in the springtime at Nealley’s Corner Cemetery, Hampden.
