GREENVILLE – Arlene M. Jardine, 78, died Jan. 16, 2013, surrounded by her family at C. A. Dean Hospital, Greenville. She was born March 28, 1934, in Stratton, the daughter of Leonard and Daisy (Cameron) Cormier.
Arlene grew up in Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School. Arlene and Jim met in high school, were married in 1953 and have shared a beautiful life together ever since. They owned and ran the Log Cabin Restaurant for 13 years. She worked as a nurse’s aide for several years at C. A. Dean Hospital, attended cosmetology school and then worked as a beautician until her retirement, all while raising their five children in a loving home. Arlene loved fishing and spending summers at their camp on Lake Hebron. She enjoyed going to yard sales, and spending time with family and friends. She was a caring and faithful person, who was always visiting others, sharing her homemade soup or muffins and spreading the good news of the Lord with all she met. She was a wonderful wife, mother, “Nanny” and friend to so many.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jim Jardine of Greenville; two sons, Gerry Jardine of Greenville and Lenny Jardine and his wife, Brenda, of Greenland, N.H.; three daughters, Sue Leland and her husband, Dave, of Sangerville, Jan Martin and her husband, Buddy, of Monson and Jill Rich and her husband, Kyle, of Windham; six grandchildren, Kourtney Ray and her husband, David, and children, Davy and Katelyn; Russell Martin and Lisa Anderson and children, Aiden, Ben and Allie; Josh and Sarah Rich, and Patrick and Mary Jardine.
Visiting hours will be held 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Greenville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Greenville, with a luncheon afterward in the church hall.
