Phippsburg man charged with unlawful sexual contact

BOWDOINHAM, Maine — The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Phippsburg man with unlawful sexual contact after his arrest in an alleged incident reported to police Sunday.

The sheriff’s office received a complaint Sunday from a 13-year-old female that she had been the victim of sexual abuse the previous evening while at her residence in Bowdoinham. Cpl. Aaron Skolfield responded and began the initial investigation. Police arrested 19-year-old Cody J. Ayer of 55 Heron Cove Road, Phippsburg, Wednesday at an address on Hill Road in West Bath. Ayer was charged with one count of unlawful sexual contact, a felony. Bail was set at $5,000 cash.

Ayer was brought to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset pending a court appearance today. He has a scheduled court date of March 12 at West Bath District Court.
