SULLIVAN – Layla Mary Turner, born Dec. 26, 2012, 13 weeks early, was definitely a fighter. She passed away unexpectedly Jan. 9, 2013, at 2 weeks old, due to an infection. She passed away peacefully in her mother’s arms with her daddy by their side. She fought through a torn lung, chest tubes and multiple breathing machines. She started breathing on her own at 1 week old. She loved to snuggle nights with Mommy and Daddy.

Layla is survived by her mother and father, Shannon M. and Michael H. Turner of Sullivan; brothers, Nathaniel L. Campbell and Dillion M. Turner, both of Sullivan; sisters, Rebecca N. Campbell of Sullivan and Emma J. Maisley; grandfathers, Malcolm “Tim” Roberts of Harrison and Gregory R. Turner of Sullivan; grandmothers, Debbie Dickerson of Machias, Theresa Roberts of Harrison and Cathy Breen of Sullivan; great-grandmother, Gloria M. Roberts of East Machias; aunts, Ashley Roberts and Cheyenne Dickerson, both of Machias, Amy Turner and Christina Roberts, both of Ellsworth; uncles, Mike Roberts of Machias, Josh Roberts of Harrison, Preston Withan of South Carolina and Adam and Nicole Sylvia of Machias; many other aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her great-grandfather, Leroy “Buster” Roberts; aunt, Amanda Turner; and great-grandfather, Gerald “Jerry” Turner.
Visiting hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Ellsworth, where there will be a celebration of her life 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18.
