ELIOT, Maine — A 13-year-old student at Marshwood Middle School has been charged with terrorizing after he allegedly scratched a threatening message onto the wall of a school bathroom.

Police said the message stated “people would be killed” on a specific date.

The incident was first reported to police Jan. 7, and after conducting interviews of witnesses, the juvenile was identified. In addition to terrorizing, he has also been charged with criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.

Police charged the juvenile Sunday night, said Chief Theodor Short.

“We cannot express how proud we are of the witnesses that came forward to bring this case to a successful conclusion. This conduct should not be ignored or taken lightly,” Short said.

A court date of April 1 has been scheduled.
