ELIOT, Maine — A teenage boy is facing charges in connection with a threat at Marshwood Middle School, police said.

The 13-year-old boy, whose name is being withheld because he is a juvenile, is accused of terrorizing and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors, after Eliot police received a report a threat had been scratched onto a bathroom wall, according to Eliot police Chief Ted Short.

Short said the threat had a specific date on it and declared that people would be killed.

“This is a serious issue and threats like this should not be taken lightly,” Short said.

The incident was reported to police on Jan. 7. After witness interviews were conducted, the boy was charged with the aforementioned crimes on Monday, according to Short.

The Marshwood school district, Eliot police and the middle school collaborated on the investigation, Short said.
