BREWER, Maine — Brewer police officer Kristie Bouchard was hoping to find someone home when she stopped by the residence of Shayna K. Hewett just before 10 a.m. Sunday.

She was not only successful in finding the 21-year-old Brewer resident wanted on two arrest warrants home, she found some other things on the premises to add to Hewett’s list of charges.

“Officer Bouchard was conducting a warrant check and located her at home at 9:52 a.m.,” said Brewer Deputy Police Chief Jason Moffitt. “After entering the residence, she noticed several pieces of drug paraphernalia in plain view, as well as a significant amount of Suboxone.”

Moffitt said Hewett had no valid medical prescription for the Suboxone.

“She was wanted on warrants for an unpaid fine on a theft charge and for drug possession,” said Moffitt.

Moffitt said Bouchard also found an unknown white powder at Hewett’s residence which is awaiting testing. Other charges could be pending if the substance turns out to be an illegal one.

Hewett was taken into custody and sent to Penobscot County Jail, where she stayed overnight before being released after making a court appearance at Penobscot Judicial Center in Bangor on Monday afternoon.
