VAN BUREN – Anne Marie Morrow, 90, died Jan. 2, 2013, at a Van Buren health care facility. She was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Van Buren, daughter of Theodore and Exilda (Roy) Lavoie.
She attended former Aroostook State Normal School, now University of Maine at Presque Isle, and former Gorham Teacher’s College, now University of Southern Maine. She taught school in Van Buren for many years. She later worked with her husband at their Studebaker dealership, then 12 years at their Dodge dealership and their construction business, until their retirement. Anne Marie was a poet and an artist, writing in English and French. Her poetry was published widely in anthologies and magazines, and she received the Golden Poetry Award in 1987 and 1989. She loved to paint landscapes of the St. John Valley. She and her husband loved to square dance and spent many weekend evenings dancing in Maine and Canada.
She is survived by three sons, Ray Morrow and wife, Brenda, of Smithfield, David Morrow and wife, Bobbie, of Presque Isle and Peter Morrow and wife, France, of St. Leonard, New Brunswick; four daughters, Lynne Morrow of Colorado, Mary Moreau and husband, Tom, of Biddeford, Lou Ann Morrow of Daytona, Fla., and Laurie Farmer of Pownal; and one granddaughter, Lindsay Moreau of Biddeford. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Laurence J. Morrow.
Relatives and friends may call 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be at Grande Riviere Cemetery.
