MAXFIELD – Gerald Kenneth Sage Sr., 93, husband of the late Elsie (Dunton) Sage, passed away Jan. 6, 2013, at Cummings Healthcare Facility, Howland. He was born June 12, 1919, in Howland, son of Albert and Ethel (Lancaster) Sage.
Gerald was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He moved to Maxfield in 1952 to follow his dream to be a dairy farmer. He was employed at South Branch Lumber until his retirement. He was a member of Composite Lodge No. 168 AF & AM, Lagrange, where he received his 65 year pin. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, West Enfield. He had served the town of Maxfield as selectman, where the town office was dedicated to him and Elsie.
He is survived by three children, Peggy and Brian Knowles, Marjorie Sage, and Gerald and Darlene Sage; special niece, Debbie Dunton; grandchildren, Jolie and Joe Hatch, Jennifer and Shane Cassio, Jeannie and Keith Champion, Lindsay and Dustin Harrington, Carolyn and John Donaldson, and Cathy Knowles and Rick Honer; great-grandchildren, Lacey, Lauren, Jade, Jason, Alydia, Brooke, Aiden, Alice, Samuel, Casey, Rosie and Jack; siblings, Althea Sage, Glenna Leavitt, and Mona Swett and Donald; sisters-in-law, Ruth Sage and Dulsie Dunton; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by a grandson, Jason Sage; and siblings, Kermit, Elwin, Reginald, Lloyd, Edith Currie and Thelma Leavitt.
Friends may call noon until the time of service 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with the Rev. Alan Porter officiating. Spring interment will be at Howland Cemetery.
