BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor man was arrested and charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon Monday afternoon after Bangor police responded to a report of disorderly activity involving four men at Pickering Square.

John C. Leonard, 47, was arrested and charged in the incident, which was reported at 2:23 p.m. Monday, authorities said.

“The initial emergency call was for four men pushing and shoving,” said Bangor police officer Joe Baillargeon, one of seven officers who responded to the scene. “While we were responding, we were notified that someone had pulled a knife.”

Baillargeon could not confirm if a knife or other weapon was recovered at the scene.

Leonard was being held at the Penobscot County Jail on $500 cash bail and was still in custody early Monday evening.
