BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Hydro Electric Co. crews restored power to nearly 1,300 customers by Sunday, after high winds knocked out service to some customers in northern Penobscot and Piscataquis counties.
Strong Saturday morning winds caused the outages, the bulk of which were in Milo, Sebec and surrounding communities, according to Bangor Hydro spokeswoman Susan Faloon. Extra crews were called in to work to repair damage.
On Sunday evening the Bangor Hydro website listed nearly 100 outages in Orrington, likely caused by a tree limb.
Small numbers of outages also were reported in Hancock, Washington and southern Penobscot counties over the weekend.
Central Maine Power reported about 250 outages for its customers on Saturday morning, but those were restored by Sunday. Most of those outages were in Lincoln County.
