BANGOR – John G. Werdt died peacefully Jan. 3, 2013, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. John was born July 12, 1931, in Bronx, N.Y., the son of John G. Seraphine and Emily Read.
John was a graduate of James Monroe High School and was employed for many years at Ruben H. Donnelly Corp. After moving to Reno, Nev., John went to work for the Veterans Affairs hospital. John was a longtime member of Lyons Club and was a dedicated volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital. John enjoyed oil painting, classical music and socializing with the staff and friends at the Freezes Assisted Living Center.
John was predeceased by his wife, Clothilde; a brother, Harry Seraphine; a stepgrandson, Arden Alangna; a nephew, Raymond DeLucia; and a niece, Nancy Alacchi. He is survived by his daughter, Anne Healy and her husband, Thomas, of Hampden and their children, Christopher Healy and his wife, Debra, of Hampden, Matthew Healy and his wife, Tami, and their children, Olivia and Brycen, of Orrington and Timothy Healy of Bangor; his stepson, John Alangna and his wife, Gail, and their son, Elias, of South Colby, Wash.; a niece, Susan Alacchi of Clark, N.J.; and a nephew, Stephen Silco of Sacramento, Calif. The family thanks Dr. Maryann Walsh and the staff at St. Joseph Hospital for their care and outstanding kindness to John.
Interment will be private beside his wife at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
