WATERVILLE, Maine — A Winslow man is facing felony charges after he showed up at his girlfriend’s apartment and threatened her and other tenants, according to police.

Robert Graporex, 22, had gone to a Summer Street apartment around 11 p.m. New Year’s Day looking for his girlfriend, according to Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.

When Graporex arrived at the apartment, he demanded to know where the woman was, holding an open folding knife in his right hand, Rumsey said.

Despite multiple requests from tenants inside the unit to leave, Graporex reportedly refused and repeatedly threatened to harm the people inside the apartment and his girlfriend when he found her. The woman was not at the apartment, Rumsey said.

Another man inside the apartment confronted Graporex and they scuffled briefly before Graporex finally left, according to Rumsey. He got into a vehicle driven by David Bowring, 22, and they headed to Bowring’s College Avenue apartment. Both men were gone from the Summer Street apartment by the time police arrived, Rumsey said.

The men eventually were found and Graporex was arrested on charges of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony, and domestic violence terrorizing, a Class B felony due to the fact he had a weapon and the nature of the threats. He also was charged with criminal trespass, a Class D misdemeanor.

Bowring had a warrant for operating a vehicle after his license had been suspended, so police arrested him on that charge, Rumsey said.

Bowring was booked into the Waterville police station and released while Graporex was taken to Kennebec County Jail.

He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the terrorizing charge and an additional five years on the criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon count.
