CASTLE HILL, Maine — A Castle Hill man critically injured in an accident on Dec. 28 has died, a spokesperson for Eastern Maine Medical Center said Thursday.

Officials could not disclose when Wendell Denbow, 52, passed away. He had been in the Bangor hospital since he was struck by a vehicle while plowing snow with an ATV on the Haystack Road.

Sgt. Forrest Dudley of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department said that the accident took place just before 8 a.m.

Bethany Morton, 23, of Ashland was eastbound on the road in her 2007 Toyota Camry when Denbow backed the ATV out in front of her.

Dudley said that Morton was unable to stop and she struck the ATV.

The 52-year-old was thrown from the ATV, hit Morton’s vehicle and landed in the roadway.

He was taken to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle and then flown to EMMC.

Poor road conditions and visibility were factors in the crash, according to Dudley.

Morton was not injured.

No charges are pending.
