More than 2,000 without power in Hancock County after broken pole causes outage

Bangor Hydro crews are working to restore power to more than 2,000 customers in Hancock County this morning. The outage was caused by a broken utility pole. This morning’s cold weather conditions are making restoration efforts more challenging. Approximately 2,365 meters have been affected, the company reports.

Bangor Hydro customers may report outages by calling 800-440-1111, at bangorhydro.com, or on the company’s mobile site at bhe.com/m.

Customers are reminded to use alternate heat and power sources in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines. It’s never safe to use generators inside.

The bulk of the affected customers should have power restored in 1-2 hours. Some may take longer while crews work to repair damage.
