BANGOR, Maine — Several calls from concerned citizens have helped Bangor police determine the identity of a teenager involved in a hit-and-run accident involving two vehicles Sunday, police said.
Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday the crash occurred around 11 a.m. at the corner of Webster Avenue and Crestmont Road, and that one of the vehicle’s drivers fled the scene.
Carson Stimus, 19, of Bangor called Bangor police and met with Officer Jermaine Walker on Monday afternoon, Edwards said. Walker issued a summons to Stimus charging him with misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident and operating without a license, according to Edwards.
On Sunday, the other driver reported to Walker that his vehicle had been struck by a Subaru hatchback, which was coming from the area of Bangor Municipal Golf Course, according to Edwards. A piece of the Subaru was left at the scene.
