It’s almost 2013 and as parents start making New Year’s resolutions, developing healthy eating habits with their kids should be a focus. To help make this fun and approachable for kids (while making good use of the smartphones and tablets they unwrapped for holiday gifts), PBS KIDS has several great apps to help spur healthy eating habits:

Fizzy’s Lunch Lab Fresh Pick: Search for the Next Lunch Labber

Professor Fizzy is holding a competition to see who has what it takes to be the next Lunch Labber! Kids put math and problem-solving skills to the test while navigating their way through the grocery store and learning about healthy foods, while coming up with the right amount of change in the checkout line and successfully serving food to a room full of hungry customers. For iPad, Kindle Tablet and Nook Tablet for kids ages 6-8.

Fizzy’s Lunch Lab Hectic Harvest

Help stock the Lunch Lab with the freshest veggies by planting, watering and harvesting crops. For Android phone, Nook Tablet, Kindle Tablet and iOS devices for kids ages 3-plus.

D.W.’s Unicorn Adventure

It’s D.W. to the rescue. Help Arthur’s little sister save a lost unicorn using the power of rainbow foods. This arcade-style game encourages healthy snacking. For iPhone and iPod Touch for kids ages 4-plus.
