FORT FAIRFIELD – Pauline E. Grass, 90, wife of the late Owen K. Grass, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 30, 2012, at a Caribou nursing facility after a period of declining health. She was born Dec. 9, 1922, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Elmer and Pearl (Colpitts) Sears.
She was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, class of 1940 and worked for a time as a legal secretary. Pauline was a dedicated homemaker and also volunteered for Hospice of Aroostook for a number of years. Pauline enjoyed traveling, playing cards and board games, and family gatherings, especially during the holidays. She also loved animals, especially cats and leaves behind 11 furry four-legged friends.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Owen, Dec. 24, 2008; two sons, Greg K. Grass, in 1991, and Dale N. Grass, in 2007; one daughter, Wendy J. Burns, in 1998; two brothers, Paul and Peter Sears; and two sisters, Dorothy Palomba and Eva Stevens. She is survived by three sons, Larry O. Grass of Fort Fairfield, James F. Grass and his wife, Sharon, of Presque Isle and Nicky E. Grass of Fort Fairfield; six grandchildren, Jason LaCroix of Fort Fairfield, Kelly Canney of Mars Hill, Matthew Grass of Presque Isle, Aimee Twigg of Orono, Rachael and Courtney Burns, both of Rockville Center, N.Y.; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A graveside service will be conducted at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring.
