Gorman ‘Whittey’ Richard Saucier

WALLAGRASS – Gorman “Whittey” Richard Saucier, 78, died Dec. 28, 2012, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born April 19, 1934, in Wallagrass, son of Honore and Anna (Caron) Saucier.
He attended the Wallagrass convent until his mother’s passing at which time he went to work in the forest industry and on local farms. Later, he joined many from our area and went to work in Connecticut. He was especially proud of the times he worked for Pratt & Whitney. Deciding to leave the city so he could raise his children in a safer environment, he returned home to Wallagrass, where he then worked for SAD 27 for more than 30 years. During this time he recalled sharing many special personal relationships with co-workers, especially with his “Buddy” Bert Berube.
Gorman was predeceased by his mother, father; three brothers and three sisters, Lorraine Voisine of Lincoln, Claudette Dube of Caribou, Theresa Hamm of Bangor, Adrian Saucier of Presque Isle, Harold Saucier of Hartford, Conn., and Aldrick “Dick” Saucier of Lincoln. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Frances (Mickey) Brooker Saucier of Wallagrass. He also leaves his children, Roderick Saucier and wife, Vickie, of Wallagrass, Rodney Saucier and his wife, Tonnie, of Belleview, Fla., Lori-Ann Saucier Levesque and her husband, Todd, of Wallagrass and Dawn Saucier Ouellette and husband, Scott, of Eagle Lake. He was a loving grandfather who gave gentle advice and shared special memories and stories with his pride and joy, Shawn Levesque, Ashlee Saucier, Alecia Bourgoin, Rodney Saucier Jr., Brittany Levesque, Spencer Levesque, Carrie Levesque, Marie Mazorolle, Carrigan Levesque, Brooke Saucier, Shana Saucier, Adrianna Levesque, Kiara Ouellette and Gibson Ouellette. He was blessed to experience the love of his great-grandchildren, Dawson, Peyton, Emmett and Chandler. He is survived by his siblings, Carmen Dubay of South Windsor, Conn., Rosa Bouchard of Millinocket, Norman Saucier and wife, Edna, of Presque Isle, Alve “Babe” Saucier of Eagle Lake, Leo Saucier and wife, Zelma, of Millinocket and Joanne Farmer and husband, Robert, of East Millinocket; and sister-in-law, Madeline Saucier of Presque Isle. He will be dearly missed by all the friends he made at County Dialysis, who held a special place in his heart.
Friends and family may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, and 8 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church. Spring interment will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
