Police probe theft of pickup truck tailgates

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

ARUNDEL, Maine — Police in York County are searching for a suspect, or suspects, responsible for stealing six tailgates from pickup trucks at a local dealership.

Employees at Arundel Ford on Portland Road reported Wednesday that the tailgates had been stolen from trucks ranging from 2007 to 2013 models, according to York County Maj. William King.

King said the value of the tailgates is estimated to be between $10,000 and $12,000. Police believe the theft occurred either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Police have no suspects in the case, according to King, but anybody with information on this incident should call the York County Sheriff’s Office at 324-1113.
