MADISON – Lorena H. Snell, 98, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Maplecrest Rehabilitation & Living Center, Madison. Lorena was born Oct. 23, 1914, in Anson, to William and Helen (LeBlanc) Kenney.
She graduated from Madison High School, class of 1932. She had been a lifelong resident of the Madison/Anson area. Lorena worked for a number of years as a pharmacy assistant at Cook’s Pharmacy, Madison, she also was employed as a telephone operator before working many years as the secretary to the principal at Madison High School, retiring in 1981. Lorena was active in the Madison community. She was a member of the Bridge Club, Rebekah’s and a 50-plus year member of Madison Area Woman’s Club. In 1954 she served on the Sesqui-Centennial Committee.
Lorena was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Roger W. Snell Sr.; and a brother, Lawrence Kenney. She is survived by hers sons, Roger W. Snell Jr. and his wife, Mary, and Allan G. Snell and his wife, Cheryl; her grandchildren, Liz Pacileo, Roger W. Snell III, Yvonne Goodall, Jeffrey Meader Sr. and Ryan Snell; her great-grandchildren, Lexi Pacileo, Lauryn Goodall, Savanna Meader, Jeffrey Meader Jr., Halie Meader, Kamryn Snell, Paige Meader and Caroline Snell; her brothers, Raymond and Angus Kenney; her sisters, Irene Damren, Birdena Padham, and Lorraine Chandler; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Main Street, Madison, with Father John Mazzei officiating. Interment will be later in the spring at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Maplecrest Rehabilitation & Living Center, Activity Fund, 174 Main St., Madison, ME 04950.
