MILLINOCKET – Georgina S. Ferguson, 98, wife of the late Charles S. Ferguson, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at a Millinocket hospital. She was born June 26, 1914, in Millinocket, daughter of Melvin J. and Fannie H. (Carter) Embleton.
A lifelong resident of Millinocket, Georgina attended schools there and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1932. She learned hairdressing from local hairdressers, and eventually completed the necessary steps to become professionally licensed as a hairdresser. She worked for many years as a hairdresser in Millinocket after her children were grown. Georgina loved to travel, and did so until she was well into her 80s. She was an avid bridge player, and loved to entertain friends and family in her home. Georgina will be remembered as an infectiously happy person by all who knew her.
She is survived by three children, Mel Ferguson and wife, Judy, of Bridgton, Harriett Daisey of Millinocket, and Chuck Ferguson and wife, Lorna, of Warminster, Pa.; 11 grandchildren, Chris, Brian, Matthew, Will, Amy, Jon, Derek, Cassie, Dane, Sarah and Tony; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Georgina will also be missed by a special friend and caregiver, Carole Daisey of Millinocket. In addition to her parents and husband, Georgina was predeceased by a very special son-in-law, Linc Daisey; sister, Elizabeth “Bessie” Embleton; and brother, Allister Embleton.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in the springtime at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with interment after at Millinocket Cemetery.
