Sold somebody a bunk phone and got knocked around for it, but that’s a robbery?

they arranged a meeting to get their money back… I don’t know what your logic is but the way I see, they were lucky someone would give them their money back. In private transactions it is always buyer beware.

regardless of the phone being knowingly or unknowingly sold defective that doesn’t give them the right to assault him or steal money in his possession. If somebody is to be deprived of life liberty or property this must go through courts and be subject to the rule of law not the whim of the mob, in this case 4 people that were probably irate because they had to go meet someone and then drive back once the phone was not working.

Tom, there a dozen way to look at a given situation — I have mine, you have yours and more will be along shortly. I try not to over-analyse things — one kid sold another a bunk phone, the buyer showed up with a couple drunken yahoos twice his age and it tuned into a scuffle. That’s real life, not some theory about private transactions and life, liberty and the American way, brother. A couple basic rules of common sense…

        1. Don’t sell bunk merchandise.
        2. If one chooses to roll those dice, make refunds to really annoyed people in well-lit places full of people, like Friendly’s.

furthermore if you do some research and look into cases of justified homicide in cases of self defense, there are 3 conditions that warrant the use of lethal that must be met. Disparity of force, Clear and obvious intent, and Ability.

2 younger people and 2 middle age people vs 1 man is obvious disparity of force and being of average physical condition can easily overpower and mortally wound a singular opponent, four people slamming you to the ground pissed you sold them a bum phone is plenty of intent.

They are lucky they weren’t shot.

if it were me tom i’d cut them

      • Bill Cat

Okay, Tom, enough. This ain’t Peoples Court and I don’t much give a rats arse beyond my original comment, okay? Don’t know these guys and don’t know anybody who does know them. Nobody slammed me or you to the ground, so skip the over-caffeinated raving about it. Are we clear on that now?

        • Tom Brown III

Thank you for your belligerent and absolutist retort.

The only think I am clear on is you have some sort of online forum superiority complex. Your condescension is amusing.

Just don’t know when to shut-up, eh? Gotta have the last word like some silly grade-school kid. Aside from you pompous, self-aggrandizing speeches, what was your point anyhow? That only YOUR line of thinking is correct and any other is wrong? Insane folks tend to believe that…

Doing a poor job of trying to stick up for you boyfriend, pally. ” President Lincoln once said: “It’s better to be quiet and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubts.” You, pally, have proven that theory.

Are we clear on that now ? (stole a smarmy line out of A FEW GOOD MEN…) you sound like the over-bearing, pushy USMC officer that Jack Nicholson played in the movie…and he abused his uniform……please keep in mind that respect does not come from a place of fear, but……if you have a problem with (The) People’s Court, perhaps you may just want to stay with something simpler….such as ( Benji Comes Home ) ….Sir, there are SOME of us who DO give a rat’s arse, and I happen to think that Tom is well-spoken, and has a quick mind, and I enjoyed reading his imput…..perhaps THAT is what angered you…..as you are putting out the (impression) in my mind that you feel inferior when your style of narrative is stacked up alongside his…..jealous of a man who has a mind and can think and express himself ? Be careful, there is a full moon in Cancer , and we would not want you to get dis-combobulated and fall off your self-imposed throne……big kitty…needs to be petted…..MEOWWWWWW…….time to put the claws back in…..and play nice…..

Dude, are you on medication or in need of some? What are you babbling about?

It states right in the article that while he was being assaulted by one of the suspects, the others took his money. That’s robbery.

      • Bill Cat

        Okay, that’s robbery.

This robbery victim obviously sold a dead a phone for some quick drug cash, and the ripped-off victim obviously needed a phone so he could text his dealer. It’s clear that only one person got high after this transaction. Not surprising this dude got strong armed for the rest of his cash, they should of put the bunk cellphone in his mouth then kicked it shut once they took all his cash, disappointing they didn’t. What matters now is that both parties were able to get their pill fix and relax with their friends and family. The only true crime here is to their own financial status, by cooking a simple recipe they could have been high off krokodil for days, and for about 4 bucks..

Not bad, if vapid and predictable. Gotta put more gusto into it tho — make one of the culprits an indercover, ah, gack, FED, that’s it a Nark…. And the guy sold the bunk phone was a front man for the Cartels…

  • Eric Tweedie

why would you ever hand over money for a phone, or anything for that matter, in a private sale without making sure it was working first.
