While high-quality boots do their best to keep the elements out, snow and ice somehow always manage to find their way in. Gaiters can help close that gap. Designed to strap over your boots and lower leg, they offer solid protection from heel to knee. The Outdoor Research’s Verglas Gaiters are lighter in weight than other styles, making them great for easy packing. They’re fully waterproof and made from highly durable fabric that will keep them in your wet-weather arsenal for years to come. (It also carries Outdoor Research’s lifetime guarantee from any defects.)

The Verglas Gaiters have two fabric sections: The leg is made from a three-layer ripstop fabric that protects against wet, cold weather while remaining breathable, and the boot is made from a specially-shaped abrasion-resistant fabric.

The gaiters attach with a strong webbing-and-buckle system to ensure they stay on. The top closure is made from }-inch webbing that is secured with a cam buckle, and the bottom belted closure is double-riveted for wear resistance. They’re also easy to put on, with a hook-and-loop front closure that stretches the length of the garment.

Available in both men’s and women’s styles. Colors are black and black/blue. Purchase online at outdoorresearch.com. Price is $54.
