ST. DAVID – Norman J. Plourde, 87, passed away peacefully Dec. 24, 2012, at a Frenchville health care facility. He was born June 6, 1925, in St. Agatha, son of the late Ernest and Laura (Morneault) Plourde.
After graduating from high school, Norman served in the U.S. military as a Marine. He worked as a United States Custom’s officer in numerous ports until his retirement in December 1991. He was a finance officer for the American Legion, Madawaska, for many years. Being an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his buddies.
Norman is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Normande Fournier Plourde of Madawaska; four daughters, Karen Levesque and her husband, Phil, of Frenchville, Patrice Daigle and her husband, Jim, of Durham, Elaine Stone and her husband, Barry, of Fairfield and Francine Akers and her husband, John, of Centennial, Colo.; four sons, Allan Plourde and his wife, Julie, of Richmond, Va., Michael Plourde of Gorham, Peter Plourde of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Paul Plourde and his wife, Lana, of Kennebunkport; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Jackie St. Jarre of Madawaska; many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. David Church. Family and friends may offer their condolences 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
