One aspect of the difference between vegans and vegetarians is that the former require vitamin B12 supplements. B12 is ordinarily only obtainable via meat and dairy products including eggs, milk, cheese, etc. Those foodstuffs have additional nutritional value and are “renewable”.

If you need to take supplements your not eating the right food, nature never intended us to take pills.

You can find B12 in some other vegan sources- seaweed, and some fermented soy products like tamari and tempeh. I don’t know how good a source those things are for humans- I’m sure I get most of mine from meat and dairy.

this is a very dangerous eating style unless you know what you are doing and you have a doctor approve it. You get hurt or sick while practicing this style, your recoup time is extrmeley long….

Ummm – this dude does not look like the picture of health to me. Looks like he’s got an eating disorder more than anything else.

Being a vegan is an eating disorder.

Not too sure, but I think that may be a picture of the article’s author, not the good doctor?

No, that is Dr. Lodato pictured.

This looks like a great choice Doc. But, hey more meat for us!

I’ve never found vegans/vegetarians to ever look very healthy.
The human body is made/ has evolved to be an omnivore.

  • Mmmmmmmm…..this steak is good!

What — Is this negativeland? Today there are many professional vegan athletes. Do your research before making silly anti-vegan comments. Plenty of protein and all necessary nutrients on a vegan diet.
