Homeless vigil set Friday evening at Hammond Street church

BANGOR, Maine — The Hope House homeless shelter and the Hammond Street Congregational Church will host a vigil for the homeless from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hammond Street Congregational Church, 28 High St., Bangor.

The vigil is meant to mourn homeless community members who died throughout the year.

The 2011 vigil drew more than 100 participants. People are urged to dress warmly, and refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the service. Similar events are scheduled to take place in Portland and Lewiston.
