Berwick man facing charges after reported break-in

BERWICK, Maine — A local man was arrested and charged with trespassing and possessing dangerous knives and drugs after a burglary was reported Wednesday.

At 10:39 a.m., a possible break-in was reported to police.

Eric Sousa, 28, of Bridge Street was arrested in connection with the incident after a neighbor reported someone lingering around a house, where damage was done to a garage. Sousa was allegedly unable to enter the house.

At 10:43 a.m. police made contact with Sousa on Bridge Street.

“He was detained while we investigated,” Police Capt. Jerry Locke said.

Sousa was then arrested on charges of possession of dangerous knives, criminal mischief, criminal trespassing and possession of marijuana.

He was transported to York County Jail and held on $1,000 cash bail.
