BANGOR, Maine — A candlelight vigil will be held Friday evening to remember the victims of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting.

The vigil will be from 4 to 9 p.m. in Cascade Park on State Street, according to Heather Lee, a 22-year-old mother of one from Bangor. She said people can come and go as they please.

Attendees are asked to bring their own candles.

Lee said the vigil is intended to honor the victims of the shooting and their loved ones, and keep people talking about the tragedy.

“Eventually, in a couple months, everyone’s going to forget about it, but I hope they don’t,” Lee said. “It will only get worse if we forget about it.”
