Orono man accused of violating protection order

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

ORONO, Maine — A local man was arrested Tuesday evening after violating a protection order by being on his ex-wife’s property, police said.

A resident of the Downeast Terrace had witnessed an argument between Randolph Gamache, 46, of Orono and the woman around 9 p.m., according to Orono police Capt. Josh Ewing.

The protection order against Gamache prohibits him from being on the woman’s property, according to Ewing. An issue over the pair’s children and a man the woman was with allegedly spurred the argument.

The neighbor saw the pair arguing outside and called police, but Gamache was gone when officers arrived, Ewing said.

While police were speaking with the woman, Gamache returned and was placed under arrest. He was charged with violation of a protection order and brought to the Penobscot County Jail.
