Man accused of assault, possession of bath salts

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police originally thought they were being dispatched to a motor vehicle crash in the area of Cedar and Main streets Tuesday afternoon but instead wound up arresting a man for assault and possession of bath salts, according to Lt. Steve Hunt.

Christopher Rosene, 43, of Bangor was involved in an altercation with another man over money, Hunt said.

When police showed up to investigate, they found Rosene’s victim with scratches on his face and Rosene with a box that contained two small baggies of bath salts, the lieutenant said.

Hunt said it was unclear whether the drugs were related to the disagreement between the two men.

Rosene was arrested and charged with assault and illegal possession of synthetic hallucinogenic drugs and brought to the Penobscot County Jail, Hunt said. Rosene was later released on bail.

According to Bangor Daily News archives, Rosene was summoned on a charge of assault in 2011 after he allegedly assaulted a woman who offered him a cigarette.
