Betty Noreen Nason Avery

MORRILTON, ARK. – Betty Noreen Nason Avery, 64, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, after a year-long battle with cancer at Hospice Home Care, Little Rock, Ark. She was born June 3, 1948, in Bangor, a daughter of Walker D. Nason and Clara Page Nason.

Betty was a retired home health aide in Arkansas and supervisor for a disabled adult group home in Virginia. She was a Girl Scout leader for several years when she lived in Millinocket. She enjoyed doing needle point, plastic canvas crafts and crocheting. She crocheted hats for charity. She was a very loving mother to her daughter, Amy, and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy Johnston Underwood of Morrilton, Ark.; stepgrandchildren, Shanna Underwood, Breanne Cooper and husband, Dave, and Kirk Underwood; great-stepgrandchildren, Alyssa and Deanna Cooper, all of Maine; sister, Norma Nason Brown and husband, Doug, of Taxton, Va.; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside memorial services will be held in the spring in Millinocket. There will be an open house for friends and family 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Betty and Amy’s home, 142 Denham Lane, Morrilton, Ark. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Home Care, 821A North Creek Dr., Conway, AR 72032; American Cancer Society; or a charity of your choice.
