EMCC holds off UM-Machias in men’s basketball

MACHIAS, Maine — Eastern Maine Community College of Bangor improved to 7-5, 7-2 in the Yankee Small College Conference, with an exciting 72-67 men’s basketball win at the University of Maine-Machias.

It was an uptempo, back-and-forth contest that saw numerous lead changes.

UMM fell to 4-6 overall, 2-3 in conference play.

Women’s basketball

UM-Machias 72, EMCC 42

At Machias, the Clippers of UMM (6-3, 4-1 in conference) opened with a 14-2 run and built a comfortable 37-17 at the half on the way to a 72-42 win over YSCC conference EMCC (2-9, 1-8)

UMM was paced sophomore Samira Cruz with 20 points and freshman Yvanessa Vincent 18 points 19 rebounds.

EMCC’s Emma Johnson led all scorers with 29 points, including five 3-pointers.
