Kingman man dead after crash in Prentiss Township

PRENTISS TOWNSHIP, Maine — A 56-year-old Kingman man died Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Route 170, according to the Maine State Police.

The accident victim was identified as John Evans, Maine State Police Sgt. Sean Hashey said Thursday. He said investigators believe that Evans might have suffered a medical problem because it didn’t look like there were evasive actions that preceded the crash.

Hashey said the accident happened about 7 a.m., when Evans’ 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, which was heading north, crossed the centerline into the opposite lane, then drove into a ditch and struck a tree.

Evans had no passengers in his pickup and no other vehicles were involved, Hashey said, citing a report by Trooper Thomas Fiske.

The accident remains under investigation, Hashey said. The state medical examiner’s office has been asked to determine if a medical problem played a role in the fatality.
