Veazie Town Office to expand hours in 2013

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

VEAZIE, Maine — Beginning next year, the staff at the Veazie Town Office will provide expanded hours for residents unable to be there during regular business hours because of their work, school or other schedule conflicts.

Town Manager Joe Hayes said that effective Jan. 1, the town office will be open until 6 p.m. on Thursdays for municipal business such as car registrations, excise tax payments and property tax payments, to name a few.

The town office will continue to be open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays during its regular operating hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., he said.

“it’s additional service at no additional cost,” Hayes said Wednesday, adding that expanding business hours will be accomplished by rearranging staff schedules. Hayes implemented a similar extended hours program in his former capacity as town manager of Stockton Springs.
