BANGOR, Maine – Screening for Mental Health Inc., the nonprofit organization that sponsors National Depression Screening Day, recently notified Acadia Hospital that it earned the distinction of being a Top 25 Online Screening Site for National Depression Screening Day 2012.

“Addressing public mental health issues is no easy task, and we congratulate Acadia Hospital for making it a priority,” National Depression Screening Day program manager Michelle Holmberg said in a recent news release. “The time and energy spent by Acadia in promoting and facilitating NDSD 2012 is obvious, and Screening for Mental Health appreciates the hospital’s commitment towards improving the well-being of its community.”

Acadia Hospital has participated in National Depression Screening Day for more than a decade, evolving from a one-day on-site screening to the implementation and promotion of the online screening tool, which has allowed significantly better participation. Acadia promotes the screening during National Depression Screening Day and offers it on a year-round basis. The confidential screening tool can be found at acadiahospital.org.
